Zirconia Sheet Toughening

Our zirconium oxide sheets can be doped with other compounds to increase toughness. The most commonly used toughening techniques are doping with rare earth oxides and composite materials.

Doping with rare earth elements: The method we often use is doping with yttrium oxide to obtain partially stabilized zirconia (PSZ) and fully stabilized zirconia (FSZ), which can greatly improve the toughness of zirconia sheets.

Composite materials: The technology we most commonly use is to compound zirconium oxide with alumina or silicon carbide to obtain zirconium oxide toughened alumina (ZTA), which will greatly improve the material toughness and fracture resistance of the ceramic!

Molding: Slurry injection molding, isostatic pressing.

Surface roughness: There are a variety of surface treatments for you to choose.

  • Ra0.2μm: The surface finish is optimal, very suitable for your high finish and low friction applications, such as high-precision electronic substrates.
  • Ra≤0.80μm: It adopts cold rolling treatment, and the surface finish is moderate. You can use it in general electronic machinery fields.
  • Ra≤1.20μm: Cold rolled and ground, with a certain degree of smoothness, but the surface finish is not high.
  • Ra≤1.60μm: Cold rolled pickling treatment, matte surface, suitable for applications with low requirements for surface reflection.
